Calling all NC cannabis activists! Please join NC Women For Cannabis at the 1100 Courtyard of the main Legislative Building in Raleigh Thursday, April 6th, 9AM - 3PM! Your assistance with educating NC lawmakers is needed!

There are plenty of tables in the 1100 Courtyard available, so setting up an educational table for your cannabis advocacy group/project to help educate NC lawmakers is welcomed! Or, you are welcome to join in and assist the NC Women For Cannabis with their edu table.

It's an exciting time for cannabis activism in North Carolina! HB 185: Legalize Medical Marijuana was filed February 22nd and assigned to the Committee on Rules, Calendar, and Operations of the House on February 27th.

On March 30th, SB 579: The Catherine A. Zanga Medical Marijuana Bill was filed in the NC Senate! This is historical for our state! Never before has a medical cannabis bill been filed in the NC Senate! AND never before have we had a cross-over medical cannabis companion bill! This is HUGE!

The two bills are identical except for two things...

1. HB 185 calls for a ballot initiative. i.e. If passed by both chambers of the General Assembly, We the People of NC will be able to vote for it during our next election. SB 579, does not call for a ballot initiative. i.e. It must pass both chambers of the General Assembly and then be signed by the Governor into law.

2. SB 579 is dedicated to the memory of Catherine A Zanga who was claimed by ovarian cancer in 2014. See more of her story: &

The cards have been dealt and we have one helluva hand to work with! But work, we must do!

We need to advocate for HB 185 to be heard in committee before April 27th or it will die in committee.

SB 579 needs cosponsors! Come and speak with your Senator about cosponsoring The Catherine A. Zanga Medical Marijuana Bill.
